Horsey interests?
Competed up to senior BSJA newcomers level and in unaffiliated dressage and eventing. Also been involved with Suffolk Heavy Horses and am able to drive and even had a go at ploughing – although I made very wonky furrows. Highlight was winning breed champion at the East of England Show with a mare (Mayflower) and her foal.
All time favourite horsey hero?
Ginny Elliot or Holgate as she was then. She most inspired me to want to work with horses and my favourite colour is still purple.
Been working as an equine nutritionist since 1998. Got my Masters degree with distinction in 2001 after receiving the Edagr Pye scholarship from the Society of Feed Technologists for my dissertation on the effects of feeding prebiotics to racehorses in training. Moved to Dengie in 2003 and became a Registered Nutritionist in 2006.
Most embarrassing horsey moment?
trying to do dressage on my chestnut mare who bucked reared and leapt her way round the arena. My sheet contained 1s and 2s which was actually generous because I really think we didn't perform any of the movements we were supposed to! Needless to say I stuck to show jumping until I got a horse that was more inclined to behave itself.
