Florence

Elaine Hollingsworth has owned Florence the goat for nearly 16 years. Elaine first contacted the Dengie Feedline 10 months ago when Florence started to quid her forage. Here Elaine shares Florence’s story. Florence waiting for dinner!

Our beloved Florence is 20 years old and has been with us for nearly 16 years. Florence and her twin companions Bramble and Bluebottle are all Anglo Nubian type goats that came to us post rescue. They all sleep on Dengie Medi-Bed, which gives them a good thick bed to keep them warm and also acts as cushioning for Florence who has some arthritis problems, which are mostly kept at bay with the use of acupuncture and herbs.

Florence started quidding hay and haylage about ten months ago and subsequently lost a lot of weight. The vets couldn’t find anything specifically wrong with her, but we were worried that we would lose her. This is when we happened to hear about Dengie Hi-Fi Senior and Alfa-Beet and haven’t looked back since. Florence loves it, she is happy again and is now a good weight - she looks like a much younger goat! Florence & Bramble

We have always fed the twins hay, but just lately we've had real problems with quality of hay available and the twins were wasting a lot. We then swapped to haylage, but also had a problem with waste as the twins couldn’t get through it quickly enough. We are now feeding the twins Hi-Fi Original which they love and even better there is no waste so it is much more cost effective. Contrary to popular opinion, goats can be very fussy eaters and I really am relieved to find such good feed that they all enjoy!
