Meet Emma Pelly
Emma Pelly is Dengie’s Marketing Manager. As she writes the foreword for your newsletter every month, we thought you might like to know a little bit about Emma and the job she does here at Dengie.
Her extensive business career prior to joining Dengie in 2002 - which included a stint in the City and working her way up from Marketing Assistant to Brand Manager at Nestle Purina where she marketed dog and cat food - is underpinned by a BSc in Equine Science which she gained from Writtle College.
Emma’s job is just perfect for somebody wishing to combine a business career with their passion for horses. Emma owns two dressage horses: 31 year old Royal whom she took to elementary level in the 24 years that she has owned him until his joints protested and 15 year old Stanley (Honour Bound) with whom she has reached Medium level but now concentrates mostly on training and having fun!
The demands of Emma’s Dengie job are such that little time is left for serious competing. Interfacing with all areas of the organisation from production through to the nutrition team and the company’s directors, the marketing manager is responsible for making sure that the product is: developed according to what you and your horses require; is keenly priced and that it’s attributes and benefits are communicated in a way that makes it easy for you to make an informed choice about the feed you are buying for your horse.
This involves a considerable amount of research to gain an understanding of what horse owners want, where they are, how they buy and where they get their information. Emma then manages the packaging artwork production process, design and advertising and public relations strategies interfacing with the professionals Dengie has appointed to make sure that the presentation of Dengie products is consistent with the high quality you have come expect from the feed.
