Horses of the Quarter - Rav and Holly
We have two horses of the quarter in this edition of DCQ at opposite ends of the spectrum; Rav a competition horse who looks fabulous on Alfa-A Oil and Holly a 30-year-old veteran who is fed a Dengie hay replacer ration.
Rav
Heather Woodhead contacted us back in September to tell us how well her horse Tymor Tivaldo aka Rav gets on with Dengie Alfa-A Oil.
“I just thought I would write to you so you are aware of how Alfa A-Oil has helped my horse Rav. As a student financially I have to be cautious, however I do not take any cutbacks where my horse’s feed is concerned and feel that Alfa-A Oil is far superior to any other product I have used.
I successfully compete Rav in varying disciplines, such as dressage, showing, working hunter, show jumping and cross country at both affiliated and unaffiliated level all year round. When out competing people always comment on how nice Rav’s coat looks, whether he is in his winter or summer coat. In response to this I always tell them I feed Dengie Alfa-A Oil and this has made such a difference to Rav’s condition. I also tell them that it has helped to give Rav that bit more energy to give him that added edge in the competition arena, but without adding fizz. I am such a fan of Alfa-A Oil that I will continue to promote it whilst I’m out competing, training and on a day to day basis whenever anyone asks!”
Holly
Holly has been owned by Ann for the last 21 years. Ann and Holly have taken part in a wide range of activities over the years including local shows, hunting and sponsored rides. In 2006 Holly started to lose condition and after investigation was found to have dental problems and Cushing’s disease, so it was at this time that Ann decided it was time for Holly to retire.
Whilst Ann’s equine dentist was working on Holly’s teeth he suggested contacting Dengie for advice as Holly could no longer manage to chew long stem forage. After contacting the Dengie Feedline Ann started Holly on a hay replacement ration combining Dengie Hi-Fi Lite and Dengie Alfa-Beet to form what Ann affectionately calls Holly’s ‘slop’.
One of Ann’s main concerns was that Holly has always been a ‘finicky’ eater, but she needn’t have worried as Holly took to her ‘slop’ straight away and has been doing really well ever since! Holly’s condition improved so much that she is now back to light hacking at weekends, including a good canter when she feels like it. On 3rd May Holly celebrated her 30th birthday and as you can see is looking really well!
