Meet Beverley Hunt

Beverley Hunt has recently replaced Michael Bacon as National Sales Manager at Dengie. She was previously Equine Commercial Manager for Brinicombe Equine in Devon and brings 20 years of sales and sales management experience to this demanding role.

As national sales manager for Dengie, Beverley oversees the sales team of six area managers. She spends two or three days every week on the road, travelling around the UK and meeting key wholesalers, customers and members of the Dengie sales team. Part of her time involves analysis of sales reports and figures and she also travels to Dengie’s head office in Essex for bi-monthly update meetings and quarterly sales meetings.

“The best bit about the job is working with like minded people with the same passion for horses,” says Beverley, who started riding when she was seven and competed in all disciplines as a child, including hunting with the Windsor Forest Bloodhounds.

She also worked on a stud farm from the age of 15 and her experience in delivering foals sparked an interest in breeding that led to her decision to put her intermediate event mare to a Thoroughbred stallion. This resulted in one of the biggest Thoroughbreds ever born, a giant of a colt that eventually stood at 18.3½ hh.

Beverley has had her share of spills and broken bones – including a fall from a three year old that resulted in a cracked bone in her back and a motorcycle escort to hospital - but she still enjoys competing and says that she would love to be able to produce a dressage test where her horse goes as well as he does at home – something with which most riders will identify!

Beverley is married and lives in Wiltshire and has a golden retriever called badger and a retired eventer called Harley on permanent loan.

Her equine heroes include Bob Champion’s Grand National winner Aldaniti – “what a fabulous story that shows what can be achieved against the odds” - and she is a huge admirer of Johanna Vardon’s work at the National Foaling Bank – “she is a real inspiration.”
