Meet Tracey Hammond
Tracey Hammond is one of Dengie’s nutritionists and those of you who have contacted the Feedline may already have benefited from her expert advice.
Tracey has always been interested in animals, particularly equine nutrition, but to keep her options open she initially studied for a BSc in Animal Science and Behaviour as she knew the number of equine nutrition jobs were limited and competition was fierce. After completing her degree she joined Dengie in 2002. She lives locally to our head office in Asheldham, Essex so when a job came up in the Sales Orders office she felt it was a great opportunity to get a ‘foot in the door’. During her time in the Sales Orders office Tracey was able to learn more about how the company operated and how the feeds were produced. At the same time she studied part time for an M.Sc. in Equine Science to give her further qualification for her dream job of equine nutritionist and when a nutritionist position at Dengie became vacant in 2004 she was accepted for the job.
Over the past four years Tracey has gained a whole wealth of experience in this role. The job can be quite varied, but on a day to day basis she covers the Feedline, answering calls from horse owners and replying to emails two days a week. The rest of her time is taken up with various activities from writing articles for magazines or the Dengie website to yard visits and talks. Most recently she has also taken on the customer service role, which she is enjoying as it is presenting many new challenges and opportunities.
Although she doesn’t have her own horse at the moment Tracey rides whenever she can. In her spare time she loves being outside and can often be found walking her dog or gardening, especially growing her own vegetables!
