Winter 2009
Hello and welcome to the winter edition of the Dengie Club Quarterly
Firstly I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year! This quarter we have some very exciting news with the launch of the Dengie Alfa-A and Hi-Fi Balancers. In Everything Explained, Senior Nutritionist Katie Williams tells us more about these new products. To complement the launch of these new products we are offering £5 off either Dengie Alfa-A or Hi-Fi Balancer to the first one hundred Dengie Club Members to request a voucher.
For me a New Year means a fresh start and many New Year’s resolutions that are made to be broken! With ongoing worries regarding the credit crunch, many of you like me have probably made budgeting top of your New Year’s resolution list. Everyone knows that owning horses can be a very expensive hobby, but this doesn’t mean that you should scrimp on your favourite hobby or the health and welfare of your trusty equine friend- just become a little more inventive on how to save in other areas. With this in mind I made an early resolution before Christmas to rejoin my local Library.
Next to all things equestrian, reading is one of my favourite hobbies and on average I would spend a minimum of £6 every couple of weeks on a new book. Totting this up I was roughly spending at least £156 a year on books, some of which I would never read again. A couple of months on I’m glad to say that so far using the Library is one resolution I have kept. Now what horsey item can I spend that money on...?
Heading towards the last of the winter months we see a rapid increase in the number of calls to the Dengie Feedline regarding veterans. With this in mind this quarter I give advice for managing older horses and ponies at this time of year. Whether you have a 20 going on 2-year-old or a veteran with poor teeth we’re here to help. In a new addition to the DCQ we also get up close and personal with some of our supported riders. In this quarter’s Q&A session we speak with Charlie Pickman and Paddy Muir to find out how they cope with the winter months.
Finally, our Dengie Club Prize Draw gives 20 lucky Dengie Club Members the chance to win a Dengie Feeding Kit.
