If you’ve ever seen a horse or pony with laminitis you’re already well aware that it is a disease to be avoided if at all possible. Unfortunately research by the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA) suggests that around 7% of all equines in the UK are affected by laminitis and as obesity, which is a predisposing factor to laminitis, seems to be on the increase, it is likely that this number will rise in the future. Bow House Equestrian is a BHS approved livery and Training yard, and hold regular pony club and riding club camps and rallies.
J P Daker started riding with the United Pack pony Club and Hunt, and won the polo cross championship. He started BE eventing at the age of 18 and produced Bow house Sydney from scratch through to doing both Badminton and Burghley in 2005 and 2006, going clear each time in XC. Having produced some more nice young event horses and selling them on, their next young horses are mostly show jumping types so we are now concentrating on that. The oldest Rubis has just started doing the 1.30/1.35 classes and will go to the secon round of the foxhunter class. Below J P Daker takes some time out to let us know how his season is going so far:

After my last diary, the curse of Badminton hit us!! Dan developed a bizzarre lameness in his hind foot. We immediately took him to the vets who, after xraying and scanning everything diagnosed a bruise in the heel area. Ginnie has been married to Will for 13 years and together they have a son Jack who will be one in May. Ginnie and Will own a breaking and training yard in Newtown Linford, Leicestershire. Ginnie has been riding all her life coming through the ranks of the Pony Club and has been eventing for 20 years.
