A wet day at Wimpole for the Pony Club Regional Endurance Ride!

15th June 2011

The Pony Club endurance riders proved that they were just as hardy as the Endurance GB riders at a very wet day at Wimpole! The Dengie Nutritionists Claire and Tracey weren’t feeling quite so hardy, but none the less were in attendance with the Dengie weighbridge to weigh horses and offer feeding advice.

Winners of the Pony Club group endurance ride were Whaddon Chase who were really pleased to receive some prizes from Dengie including a bottle of Dengie Natural Vitality Joint & Condition presented by Dengie’s Performance Horse Nutritionist Claire Akers. A very wet and cold Bedfordshire South group also had a great day and we caught up with them just after the vet check making their way back to their boxes ready to go home.

As well as the Pony Club event at Wimpole, there were distances up to 80km for the Endurance GB rides and also a pleasure ride. Proving that really anyone can have a go at distance riding were Wacissa and Gretna two 15.3hh American Mammoth Jacktop Donkeys taking part in their first 20 mile ride. Wacissa and Gretna are only 4 years-old and were only backed in March but you wouldn’t know it as they had impeccable manners and were quite happy to stand and wait whilst we and many other people stopped to chat to their owners!
