Back to the serious work

Buck looking pleased with himself at his first hunt meetWell it's a new year...Christmas is over and the horses are now back in full swing and looking towards the start of the season!

Over Christmas the boys had a few quiet days but the thought of a days hunting on Buck soon got me back in the saddle! I joined the Zetland Hunt for their children's meet last Thursday which was great fun! It was Bucks first experience of hunting and thankfully he behaved himself as I was there to help the pony club kids and it would have been very embarrassing if they had had to look after me or collect my horse! We enjoyed a good hour and a half with plenty of jumping before I called it a day. He was very pleased with himself and has been a little wild ever since.

On saturday sparkle and I were joined at the beach by a friend and her horse, both horses really enjoyed having a canter on the beach and playing in the sea!

Yesterday I went to look at a few horses with a friend who is looking to buy something that i will bring on and compete for her. We saw a few with potential so we will no doubt have a few days thinking and see what happens.

Today sadly the boys were back to serious work - dressage lessons! All worked well, obviously the change of scenery last week had cheered them up. They are all buzzing with energy which just shows that you can have horses with lots of energy and stamina by just feeding fibre (mine are still just getting Alfa-A Oil and Alfa-Beet and a feed balancer!) and it must be much better for their digestive system than packing them full of concentrates all of the time!!
