Bart's complete turnaround with the help from The Blue Cross

25th August 2011

Bart when he first arrived at The Blue Cross Burford adoption centreBart was being continually bullied by his ever growing number of field companions on a daily basis and was getting pushed out of the herd. RSPCA inspectors were concerned for his welfare and Bart had a lucky escape ending up at The Blue Cross Burford adoption centre where he could receive the individual care and attention he needed.

On arrival he was nervous and withdrawn and had to be herded out of the trailer into a secure stable where he was allowed to settle overnight. Bart was essentially unhandled and wild, so the staff at the Burford centre started spending time in the stable with him building his confidence and handling him. Within two days he had a head collar on and is continuing to excel, now accepting being groomed, led in hand and even stepping on to the weighbridge.

Rehoming supervisor, Gemma Taylor, says, “Often it’s relatively easy to teach a youngster that has had no interaction with humans before. They’ve had no bad experiences which go in our favour and often their progress is a lot quicker.”

As you can see Bart looks the picture of health; he was started on a gradual diet of Dengie Alfa-A and Fibre mix Extra for condition. Once a desirable weight was achieved he was gradually switched on to a diet of Dengie Hi-Fi Good Do-er, Alfalfa Pellets and Natural Vitality Vits & Mins supplement.
