Blue Cross horse Storm Competes in Dressage Champs
4th November 2011
A horse that was rehabilitated by The Blue Cross has taken part in a prestigious national competition.
Storm came to our Burford Adoption Centre when he was just three years old because he was showing aggression towards children when he was tied up.
Our staff spent a lot of time with him so he became comfortable being handled and used to being groomed, led and having his feet picked out.
Storm was rehomed on our loan scheme and he was later backed by his current borrowers and has since gone from strength to strength.
His rider, Kate Marks, has worked really hard and is now out competing regularly at novice level dressage.
They have won on several occasions and competed in the British Dressage National Championships in September, where they beat off stiff competition to come fourth overall, missing out on third place by just 0.1 per cent.
Kate said, “We are so pleased with how well he is doing, I never believed I would have the opportunity to compete at this level of dressage – we are hoping to move on to elementary level next year.”
If you think that you have the right experience and knowledge to offer a youngster or would like to adopt an older horse then please get in touch with The Blue Cross.
We often have young horses and ponies that are looking for a home where they will receive a good grounding in life and an education.
