BSJA Junior Academy Members Think Fibre First!

18th November 2008

Northern Regional Sales Manager Anne Priestman was invited to talk to the Northern BSJA Junior Academy members on Tuesday 28th October. Anne took along 'Harry the Gut', Dengie's life size horse's digestive tract, for a fun hands on approach to understanding the horse's digestive system and the importance of feeding fibre.

Amongst other things the junior members learnt that the horse's stomach was only roughly the size of a rugby ball and why some of the rules of feeding such as feeding little and often and making feed changes gradually are so important for maintaining a horse's digestive health.

The BSJA Academy provides progressive coaching using experienced BSJA Accredited Coaches to improve the riding skills and horse knowledge of junior members. The Academy also creates an environment where 'non-horsey' parents can feel comfortable asking for advice and feel included in what is sometimes thought of as an elite sport. Congratulations go to the following BSJA Junior members pictured with Lead Coach Philippa McKeever for passing their Proficiency test: - Left to Right - Lucy Lupton, Samantha Jane Deer, Charlotte Eagles, Sophie Ann Luke, Charlotte Telfor, (Lead Coach Philippa McKeever), Malandra Hale, Hayley Clarke and Rachel Harriman.
