Carly Milbank - "Things are looking up"!

Things are beginning to look up!  A lot has happened since I last wrote.

A great day was organised by Emma Pelly, Marketing Manager at Dengie for a photo shoot at Ben Maher's yard with my horses, Luca and Whinny and of course myself!  The day started with some shots of Luca and I jumping, Luca proved to be such a poser and didn't mind the fact that he had to jump the same jump about 50 times in quick succession!  Some shots were then taken back at the lorry tacking up the horses, leading them around and general activities that would normally take place between horse and rider.  In the afternoon Whinny was used for more shots where the photographer - David Charles got a little more adventurous with his positioning and angles.  We were all grateful that Whinny is not the spooky type!!  I must say thanks to Jackie Dunton who took us to the photo shoot in her shinny Oakley lorry - much appreciated to arrive in style!  I have attached some of the shots taken for you all to see!

We have finally purchase a new HGV lorry.  Many thanks to T & S Harker for delivering the new wagon which has been flat out on the road since it's day of purchase.  All seems fine with it , albeit one scary moment at our first stay away show.  I jump started the generator battery with 24v instead of 12v and melted the wiring, almost setting fire to the living.....opps!

Luca, Whinny and Dino attended Pyecombe show for 5 days in Brighton which was a success.  Whinny qualified for the South of England 5 year old championships and jumped double clear in her 1.15m classes.  Luca jumped double clear in his Foxhunter classes and also jumped clear around the first round of the last Foxhunter Regional Final, although the next round proved a step to far but he later came 2nd in a speed class that day.  Dino had an unlucky 4 faults in his newcomer classes but then proved himself to be a super derby horse jumping around the Pyecombe derby with no problems at all.  A great weekend was had by all and many thanks to my Mum and nephew Rhys who groomed for me all week in the scorching heat.

Things are beginning to take shape with the house and yard subsequent to the flooding so fingers crossed we can move back in before Christmas.

"Wanted", the new 4 year old that we have in is coming along nicely and he will attend his first show at Towerlands this week before we head off to Scope for the Style and Performance class.  Luca and Whinny will also be going to Scope where Whinny will contest the 5 year old classes and Luca the Sports Horse Classic class.
