Cumbria Challenge
2nd September 2011
The weather stayed kind to us only encountering one small shower on Saturday and a windy but dry day for Sunday. We had a last minute route change 6m Friday but that was minor. The route rode well both days with good long canters - very little road with some wetter parts lying on the fells, otherwise perfect for the horses.
The 100km ER had 3 entered and all three finished with one unfortunately being elliminated.
The 83km ER had 10 entered originally with 7 starting and of those 7 only one (the leading horse) being elliminated at the final vetting, this led to a very exciting 3 horse racing finish.
Dengie Horse feeds sponsored the Cumbria Challenge ride overall by supplying every rider with generous samples of feeds and literature with pens.
A good weekend was had by all with every rider going home with a Dengie goody bag.
