Dengie Extends Support for The Pony Club
14th June 2007
Dengie , the equestrian nation's favourite fibre feed provider has extended its support of The Pony Club to include sponsorship of the inaugural Pony Club Winter Dressage League Championships and has confirmed that it will continue to support The Pony Club Winter League and Open Show Jumping Championships - known affectionately as "The Dengie".
This year, The Pony Club and Dengie celebrated the tenth anniversary of "The Dengie" which, with over 4,000 first rounds being jumped annually, has become one of the largest show jumping series in the country.
Dressage in The Pony Club is enjoying greater popularity. More than half of all areas already run a winter dressage league so, having seen the show jumping series grow so successfully, a national dressage championship series was a natural development in the competition calendar.
The top four riders from each of the preliminary rounds will go on to compete at one of nineteen area finals from which a minimum of forty will go through to the Championships.
The Winter League Dressage and Show Jumping Championships will be held jointly on the 29th and 30th March 2008, with Show Jumping on the Saturday and Dressage on the Sunday. "We are absolutely thrilled that Dengie will be supporting both leagues. It is thanks to this support that the Dengie Winter League has become the highly coveted and high calibre competition that it is and with this natural extension we aim to reach the same heights with dressage" enthuses Judy Edwards, Pony Club Chief Executive.
As a leading youth organisation The Pony Club must carefully select its commercial partners as Judy explains further: "Dengie is the perfect partner for The Pony Club as the health and wellbeing of the pony are at the heart of both our organisations."
Emma Pelly, Marketing Manager for Dengie says: "We see this natural development of a dressage series is another positive step in equipping the next generation with vital skills in horsemanship. With the final of each Championship taking place on the same weekend at Moreton Morrell's Warwickshire College, it will make for an exciting weekend of competition among our stars of the future".
