Dengie's Charity Feed Donation

6th March 2012

Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary volunteers Rebecca McMullan, Kym Less, Carmel Walsh and Roisin Gallagher with Peter McQuaid of Equestrian Farm Feeds, Lisburn, who delivered the bales of feed on behalf of Dengie.Dengie has donated a pallet of feed to Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary, in Ballynoe, near Antrim, Northern Ireland, as part of its commitment to horse welfare. “The media is full of reports about the way in which horses and ponies are suffering in these difficult economic times and we wanted to do something to help,” explained Dengie marketing manager Lisa Wilson.

“We heard about Crosskennan Lane and its tireless work to rescue and re-home abandoned and neglected equines, and we got in touch to offer a selection of Dengie’s fibre feeds, as well as support and advice from our team of nutritionists.”

After consulting founder Lyn Friel and Carmel Walsh, one of the many volunteers who help to run the sanctuary, Dengie arranged delivery of a mixed pallet of Alfa-A Original, Alfa-A Oil and Healthy Hooves to ensure the rescued horses and ponies receive a high- fibre diet as they are restored to good health.

“Crosskennan struggled to make it through an incredibly busy 2011 and a recent rescue pushed our volunteers, resources and facilities to the limit,” said Lyn Friel. “We would like to thank Dengie for coming forward to help. Without this kind of support, we wouldn’t be able to manage.

“We still have 16 of the rescued ponies to care for, as well as 80 of our own resident equines and newly admitted welfare cases. We are also bracing ourselves for further multi-horse rescue calls. With the support of companies such as Dengie, we will be able to help each horse that requires our assistance.”
