Doomsday for Bazil

Brazil post-opWell the last planned run of the season was a disappointment! Sadly Sparkle and Carrot, who were both doing the novice, were put on the wait list at Oasby and didn't get to go! This was very disappointing as they were both ready for a novice run after going so well at Bishop Burton! The only plus side is that we now have the winter to improve the dressage so they come out more than ready for novice next spring!

On Tuesday poor Bazil had a date with James Emson from Castle Vets! Sadly for him it wasn't a nice date, it was castration day! The operation went well and he was back on his feet and demanding food rather quickly! Hopefully he will now turn into a cuddly pony rather than the crazy colt he was pre-op!

This weekend Sparkle, Sonyk and Bob are at Richmond doing the Petplan dressage- I will let you all know how they get on!

All the horses are enjoying the grass in the large fields a little too much, so the haylage has been cut back completely! They are all still getting their Dengie goodies (Alfa-A Oil and Fibremix Compliment, plus just a handful of Alfa-Beet). I like to keep them on the hard feed even when they are having an easier time, just reducing the quantities to ensure they are still getting all the vitamins, minerals and protein they need to keep them in tip top condition! The beauty of the Dengie range is that it is all fibre based so the horses don't get too fizzy!
