Happy Christmas to Everyone

Well it's nearly Christmas and obviously the Eventing Season is over!! My last event of the year was at Oasby with Foxy.... He did a brilliant double clear around the intermediate and in doing so gained interest of some Juniors and was sold shortly after the event! It was great for the owners as that was their plan but I was sad to loose the ride of such a lovely horse!!

My horses were all living out and in light work at the end of the season- it makes my life easier with no mucking out to do and also gives them time to be normal horses rather than competition horses wrapped up in Cotten wool!!!! I went on a short shopping trip to New York a few weeks ago to have a break from riding but by the end of the 5 days I couldn't wait to get back!!! Sadly when I returned I was greeted with snow...Lovely! So the horses came back into the stables asap and were clipped and back into their normal winter work!

Because i worry about the risk of colic when they are living in I put them all on a high fibre and hydration diet which includes the Alfa-Beet as it's hydrating along with Alfa-A Oil for energy, bulk, fibre and a shiny coat!! I don't tend to feed cereals when they are in 24hrs a day as they all end up wild and often their legs fill up! They are all in work thankfully, due to having a small indoor, and they all have more than enough energy to do the work without feeding them up to the eyeballs! I always make sure they have plenty of hay or haylage and also provide them all with the Dengie Licks to help prevent them getting bored, it also helps to make sure they are getting all the vitamins and minerals they need!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the whole Dengie team for their help and support this year, I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year!
Let's hope 2011 is a better season for Buckingham eventing!!
