More Success Heading for Headmore Stud and boost for British Breeding

22nd November 2011

Headmore Stud, owned and managed by Dengie supported rider Alice Oppenheimer and her mother Sarah, has been selected to enter one of only two British-bred dressage horses into the prestigious 'Stars of the Future' sale of dressage prospects organised by Brightwells, to be held on 3 December 2011 at Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire.

The horse chosen is three-year old Woiwode-Rubenstein, by the elegant Hanoverian stallion Woiwode, son of Wolkenstein II. His three-year-old half-brother Woiwode Whybanquo out of Headmore Leonora and owned by Anne Clarke, has recently been bought by the number one British International European gold medal duo Carl Hester and Charlotte Dujardin. He will replace Fernandez whom Charlotte sold to a member of the Nowegian dressage team.

Sarah comments "Our breeding programme is very selective. We only breed two to three foals a year and we are delighted that Woiwode-Rubenstein's half brother has been purchased by such a high profile owner who was here giving a clinic and asked if we had any other three year olds. Charlotte saw 'Banquo' and that was it, she had been looking abroad too, so you can imagine how thrilled we are and for British breeding too"

Alice and Headmore Delegate at the Nationals this year - chosen for the World Equine Pathway schemeAlice, who produces the young stock at the Hampshire equine centre, rides the stud's flagship horse Headmore Delegate, by Dimaggio, who has won numerous national young horse titles and at eight has risen through the levels and this year has completed successfully at PSG and Intermediate 1.
