Moving on Up

Our big news this month is that we’re on the move to a new yard in Cold Aston, Gloucestershire. It’s a lovely set up with 14 stables and great facilities about 15 minutes from Nether Westcote.

Deborah and Martin Toogood own the stables and have also given me the ride on their super big horse Robbie Be Good. He’s previously competed up to 2 star level, and all things going well, he’ll be aimed at Blenheim in the autumn.

Most of the horses have been out cross country schooling again to blow any cobwebs away. I’ve also taken Jagganath (Jack), Silver Dancer (Thunder), Noble Big Jim, Daisy Duke and Wish Upon a Star (Whiz) show jumping to Summerhouse in Gloucester.

I decided not to enter some of the really early events because they are often wet or cancelled so Jack was the first to run at Gatcombe intermediate this year. I was pleased with him actually; he put in a really solid performance with a good test, one down and clear cross country.

Wish Upon A Star has also been shining this month – he graded with Sports Horse GB at Addington and got a nice picture in Horse and Hound. He scored very highly in his assessment making him the champion stallion that day!
