New Year..New Start

I had a fairly quiet time over Christmas, mostly catching up with people I hadn't seen for ages, but it was much needed as I now feel rejuvenated and inspired for the coming season. Unfortunately it's been hard to work the horses as everything has been frozen for the last two weeks. However, I've managed to do something with them most days even if it has mainly been gentle hacking. My plans to take Billy hunting have been postponed, but as soon as the weather warms up I aim to reschedule.

Viking is back in work now after his holiday, and is feeling very well. They haven't been out in the field much as the ground is so hard and I daren't risk them injuring themselves. Viking has only been hacking so far and has started a little trot work. Another couple of weeks and he can start schooling so that might keep his mind a little more occupied.

Exciting news is that I am moving down to Jenny's yard with the horses, and I am going into a house across the road. It will be nice for Jenny to see a bit more of the horses, as she owns half of Billy and Viking. Jenny has fantastic facilities including a big school, walker and nearby gallops. It is only half an hour away but will be quite a big thing moving my whole life away from home as I've been living in this area for the past 11 years. It's quite daunting, but very exciting at the same time. I'm hoping to move in the next couple of weeks so will be all settled long before the eventing season starts.

Hopefully once the weather finally warms up I'll be able to take the horses out to do something interesting!
