September 2010 - Willow gets his HOYS ticket!

We decided after the champs to head to BSPS Wales to do the last HOYS qualifiers. So Zoe and I set off with Willow and Harry on the Friday morning to a lovely journey down taking us just over 9 hours to get there.

The first day we showed harry in the BSPS Challenge classes where he won his 143cm SHP class and stood reserve champion. The welsh people were lovely and they put on a free buffet for all the competitors on the Saturday night, which was a nice get together.

On Sunday Willow was the second class in. Sofie could not attend this show due to being back at school so we had arranged for our friends son Josh Thompson to ride him this time. The pair of them looked great in the class and Josh rode a really good round. They were pulled in 4th in a big line up. After a really impressive show and a good conformation trot up I went out of the ring to await the results. We couldn’t hear the numbers called but suddenly it started to sink in when Josh pulled his number round to see what it was and no one else moved forward and boy did we cheer and scream…they had qualified for HOYS !!!!!!!
This was amazing, truly amazing. For a pony that had come to us in June looking like…well as someone quoted at a show "a that pony" to be turned around in such a short time back to a HOYS pony is amazing! I am grateful to Zoe who put all the hard work in schooling him and also to Dengie Feeds as I put my trust in their products as I always do and it was their feeding that got this pony in condition in the short space of time.

So off to Hoys in October we go with two Show Ponies.
