Nicoll Show Team
September Shows
We have been out twice since we came back from Wales, the first of our outing's took us to the Howe Equestrian Centre in Fife. There was only Zoe and I on this occasion as we decided at the last minute to go and boy was it a rush. At 1 O'clock in the morning we decided to get the ponies ready to go, I started plaiting whilst Zoe got them ready to travel, with the lorry getting a quick pack with everything thrown into it we set of at 3.30am heading for the Forth Road Bridge which I must add is breathtaking at that time of the morning!! We travelled with Harry, Poker and Jack.
Jack was a we superstar he was 1st in the 148cm Show Pony and stood Champion. We also put him in the Intermediate Show Riding Type class which he won and then stood overall Intermediate Champion!
Poker was in the 153cm Show Hunter class where he stood amoungst good company in 1st place and after a great show ended up winning the class!
Harry had a great show where he won the 143cm Show Hunter class and then stood Champion over guess who...yes Poker managed to clinch Reserve Champion !
There was an overall championship at this show where Jack decided he had had enough after performing earlier in the day he almost said not on your life so he was out the window but thats just Jack... Harry on the other hand did a foot perfect show and in a tense wait he managed to get Reserve Supreme of the show.
I must add that all the above ponies are now qualified for the BSPS Summer Championships in 2011.
The other show we attended was the BSPS Scottish Finale, this show we were lucky to get to as Harry had taken a real bad bout of colic two days before and it was touch and go for him. We had to call the vet out twice during the night but with luck and prayers on our side he slowly recovered. We really thought we had lost him on this occasion and still do not know why it happened as no routine had been changed!
We set of to the Finale with half the team and our hearts not really in the show but we had to do it for the rest of the ponies although I did feel they felt the fact Harry was not present on the team that day and Im almost sure they were worried about him too.
Willow and Sofie won the Arab class with Kimberley and Jack standing second to them. Jack won the 148cm Show Pony Class and Poker won the 153cm class (a huge acheivement for him I may add considering the quality of ponies against him). The championships were in the evening performances but we really did not feel our hearts were in it and therefore we were not placed in them. A quick get away and back to the stables where Harry was waiting for his stable mates heavy eyed but much much better.
The following day Zoe and I had a day watching the Ingliston Grand Slam whilst Kimberley was judging the working hunter ponies outside all day. It was quite nice to watch for a change...
