Team Dengie tackle the Three Day Event at MK Eventing Centre
29th May 2012
Dengie Horse Feeds has lent its support to a team of four riders taking part in the Three Day Event at the MK Eventing Centre, Milton Keynes, from 2 to 5 June. Essex-based Cher East, Maureen Mack and Vicky-May Northover, and Devon grandmother Sally Pidsley – who together make up Team Dengie – will each receive a Dengie jacket, saddle cloth, rug and £100 worth of feed vouchers. It is the first time that the twice-yearly Three Day Event includes a team competition and it will even have an Olympic theme.
“We are really pleased to sponsor the team,” said Dengie marketing manager Lisa Wilson. “The competition is also a great way to celebrate London 2012 and we thought it was a good opportunity to be involved. We wish the riders the very best of luck and we will be there to cheer them on.”
Cher East and her horse, Don Markus – aka Vinnie Bone – a handsome, 16.3hh chestnut Oldenburn, enjoy a great partnership. “I know him inside out – all his little quirks and the things that are going to make him get his knickers in a twist,” she said.
This talented combination has been putting in plenty of ground work in preparation for the event “We are very proud to be supported by Dengie,” said Cher. “I give the brand’s fibre feeds to both Vinnie and my other horse, Alfie, and it’s really helped them to stay in great shape during the competition season.”
Sally Pidsley, 66, a part-time nurse on a neonatal intensive care unit in Plymouth, is thrilled that she is taking part in the competition on her horse, Storm, an IDxTB whom she has owned for two-and-a-half years. “She has a very friendly and willing nature,” said Sally. “And, as an older competitor, I need her on my side. It is very generous of Dengie to support us and I hope we will have a great result for them.”
Maureen Mack and her home-bred horse, Landmarks Fair Rhythm – or Fizz – have been getting in plenty of practice at one-day events and cross-country clinics before the big day. “We are very grateful to Dengie,” she said. “Their sponsorship really has been the icing on the cake and we are all looking forward to having a brilliant weekend.”
Vicky-May Northover and her eight-year-old Irish Sport Horse, Fitz, have come a long way since he arrived from Ireland as an underweight youngster. Last year, the pair were runners-up in the autumn MK Three Day Event and they have big plans for this year. “Fitz has been worth his weight in gold, but he does have his moments,” said Vicky-May. “I would like to say a very big thank-you to Dengie for supporting us in this way. It really means a lot and we can’t wait to fly the flag for this great fibre feed brand.”
