Training
After such an horrendous winter I decided to miss out the beginning of the season as I just couldn't get the ponies fit enough as the lane seemed to be frozen for the whole of January!Getting to work was a big enough task let alone getting the ponies up the lane trying to get their walk work in,so now two months behind in fitness I thought I would sacrifice the first few shows and put more training into the ponies.
My best friend Samantha Ray is a professional Dressage rider so I called on her to help me out with putting some more intense work into the ponies.
Mally went to stay with Sam as being the youngest and newest member of the team I felt he needed to be more consistent in the team especially being a leader he has to be forward all the time.
Sam's riding has made so much difference to his driven work its made him stronger and forward as being the youngest he used to loose his concentration quiet easily.
All the team are now having more ridden lessons and that includes me, Sam is definetly putting us through our paces!!!!
We have also been up to Essex based four in hand driver, Wilf Bowman-Ripley, where we have been concentrating on the dressage as this is our weakest phase .
Our first show now will be Catton HDT then followed by Erdigg this is the first selection event for the 2011 world pony championships in Slovenia, so fingers crossed all goes well there.
We have also been invited to do a demo at The East Sussex pony club senior camp at the beginning of August to show the kids the team. I will also take a single pony so they get the chance to have a go at Carriage Driving.
