Typical British Summer!

Well it's been another wet few weeks – what a frustrating British summer we’re having! Sadly the young event horse class at Bramham was cancelled due to the rain and mud so Buck missed another outing! However, we went down to watch some dressage and have a look at the XC on the Friday - it was muddy!! The ground team did a fantastic job to enable the 3-day to run and they were lucky with the weather for the rest of the weekend as it dried up! The really sad news from the weekend was the loss of two horses on the XC, especially Mike Jackson’s horse who had actually finished the XC clear.

Last weekend I was meant to be at Catton Park. Surprise, surprise the rain came down again and the Saturday was cancelled, so Buck missed yet another run with Sparkle having been balloted from the novice too! I woke up on the Sunday morning to find that they were running… so a quick 3 hr dash down with Carrot to do the open novice. He did a good dressage test and had a lovely clear SJ, and then really frustratingly lost a shoe in the mud between two skinny brushes and slid into the second part! He finished well after pinging around the rest of the XC.

Yesterday I spent the morning in hospital as buck (now known as ASBO) had a fright out on the farm lane when a pheasant flew out between his legs and he managed to spin and buck and deck me! I have a lovely fat hand and arm and a big egg shaped bump on my head but after 4 X-rays it turns out to be just brushing and muscle damage so hopefully, weather permitting, I will be able to compete this weekend!!
