Update from Tanya
It's been a busy few months and things are just starting to quiet down a bit as we get near the end of the season!
Bud's last outing was at Blair 3star where he did his best dressage to date and actually show jumped well having 2 down but I was far too slow and got loads of time faults!
Dengie had run an online competition to win the chance for a course walk and tickets to Blair so I walked the XC with the winner (a girl called Kim) she was really nice and was wanting to have a go at eventing herself next year - I talked her through how to warm up and cool down after the XC and how to approach different jumps (hopefully she enjoyed herself and learnt a bit too!) The intro next year should look very small now after walking the 3star!
Next was the xc. Which started well but when we got to the open ditch I think we both thought 'oh god don't do a Bramham' and we came to a full stop! I took the decision to retire him as obviously the jumps at that level are too big to come to half hearted, he will have a few nice runs to end the season and then go hunting to try and rebuild our confidence as a combination!
He has been having the Dengie Fibremix Compliment, Alfa-A oil, Alfa-Beet and Naked Oats this year and looks amazing on the combination! I have to add the Naked Oats to his feed as he is naturally a laid back horse and also because he is working so hard- he gets exercised twice a day during the eventing season to keep him fit enough!
Super Sonyk has been on great form winning both local One day events he has been to! I'm very excited about him for next year!
Bob has just been crowned Petplan Regional Champion in the Novice Open British Dressage with a score of over 70%! I was also there with two of David's horses Ricki and Beamish - they were 3rd and 6th in the same section as Bob and both Bob and Ricki have qualified for the Championships at Hartpury in April!!
Both Bob and Sonyk are fed just on Alfa-A Oil and they have the Dengie licks to ensure they get all the necessary vitamins and minerals! Both horses have more than enough energy for what work they are doing and both look very well- I'm sure the oil in the Alfa helps to give them a shiny coat!
All of Davids horses have turned a corner and have gone well in their last 3 runs - Beamish has been placed all 3 times out so has hopefully regained his confidence in XC! They are now on their holidays for a few months while the weather is ok and will be back in work before Christmas.
Dengie's Northern Regional Sales Manager - Anne Priestman has done a great job in educating David on feeding and he is now feeding all his horses Dengie Hi-Fi with Alfa-Beet and they all have the Dengie Litelicks too. I didn't want them to get too much hard feed as at the minute they are on their holidays so just need to bulk up!
Jack is back in work and touch wood seems to be on the mend so hopefully if he stays sound I will do some BSJA with him over the winter! I am feeding him Alfa-A Oil as I think any oil based feed will help with his joints!
My 3 ywarr old Bucky has just been sent to big boys school down the road where he will hopefully behave himself and let Chris back him!!! fingers crossed I will be on his back before long which is very very exciting!!
Scally and Basil are both well, we have put Scally back in foal but this time to Pippa Funnels Billy Be cool!she has to go for another scan next week so hopefully we will have another baby next year!
I am at Hutton this weekend with Bud and a new horse called Foxy!- he is a 16hh chestnut gelding which I have sat on once! Luckily he seems to be a lovely genuine type so I am looking forward to competing him! sadly he is only with me until he is sold as the girl who owns him is giving up. Will let you know how he goes in my next blog!!
