Case Study: Excitable Stallion

Dengie's newest recruit Leonie Pryor knew the benefits of feeding fibre long before she joined the Dengie team after basing her stallion's diet on Dengie Alfa-A Oil.

Ourico is a 15.1hh, 13 year-old pure bred Lusitano stallion. When Leonie first purchased Ourico he was very excitable, quite insecure in the stable and always worried about what the other horses were doing. As such it was quite a challenge to keep his weight on and also in trying to promote weight gain to keep him level headed. Leonie tried feeding him various conditioning mixes, but found that they would make Ourico more excitable so that riding became more challenging and less enjoyable. This is when Leonie decided to try a fibre based diet.

After doing some research Leonie started Ourico on a diet of Dengie Alfa-A Oil, Alfa-Beet and a broad-spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement. After spending a fortune on calmers that didn't seem to have the desired effect for Ourico, Leonie found the fibre based diet a great success. Ourico has been on a fibre based ration for nearly 2 years now and not only does he maintain his weight through the winter, but has plenty of controlled energy and stamina for eventing through the summer.
