Hi-Fi ORIGINAL with Apple is the maintenance feed for horses and ponies in light work. Providing approximately 8 MJ/Kg of slow release energy and a consistent level of natural nutrients, Hi-Fi Original with Apple will help keep your horse or pony strong and healthy.
Hi-Fi Original with Apple contains real apple pellets to provide a really tasty fibre feed for your horse or pony. Based on alfalfa and quality soft straw, Hi-Fi Original with Apple is ideal for horses at rest or in light work.
The apple pellets in Hi-Fi Original with Apple contain apple skins which is where the natural antioxidants are mostly found. They complement the antioxidants found naturally in alfalfa to give a wide range of health benefits – just as we are encouraged to eat a wide range of fruit and vegetables of different colours to ensure we get the benefits of different nutrients that plants contain.
How To Get The Most Out Of Feeding Dengie Hi-Fi Original With Apple
Hi-Fi Original with Apple can be fed on its own or combined with cubes or a mix, like Dengie Fibremix, for those horses with a higher energy requirement. If you are feeding Hi-Fi Original with Apple as the sole bucket feed, use a broad-spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement, such as Dengie Natural Vitality Vits & Mins or alternatively a feed balancer such as Dengie Alfa-A or Hi-Fi Balancer.

The suggested feeding levels are intended as a guide only. Always adjust your horse’s feed ration to suit his temperament, the environmental conditions, his body condition and work load. If your horse is in medium to hard work, or needing to gain extra condition, why not try one of the products from the Dengie Alfa-A range?
How Hard Are You Working Your Horse?
The amount and kind of work your horse or pony is doing is an important factor when calculating the quantity and type of feed to give. Almost all the energy requirements of most horses and ponies in light to medium work can be met by feeding a wholly fibre based diet such as Hi-Fi Original with Apple. If your horse is in medium to hard work, try to feed a fibre feed as the basis of the diet and use cereal based products to supplement energy requirements. Fibre is vital for the healthy function of the horse’s gut. Try not to overfeed cereal based products at the expense of fibre.
| WORK LOAD | EXAMPLES |
| Convalescence/Resting | Horses on box rest, or turned away. |
| Light work | Maximum of 1 hour per day hacking, mostly at walk with some trotting and cantering, or 30 minutes of schooling, mostly at the trot with some canter. |
| Medium work | Schooling, dressage, show-jumping, novice or intermediate 1 day eventing or hunting 1 day per week. |
| Hard Work | Advanced one day events. 3 day events, hunting 2 days per week, polo and all forms of racing. |
NOTE: All horses are individuals, so always adjust your horse’s feed ration to suit his temperament, the environment he lives in and his condition, as well as his work load.
