Testimonial: Connie

Connie is a 12 year old 15.2hh TB cross and has been owned by Joanne Heap since 2003. Joanne describes Connie as quite a good doer even though she is a bit of a stress head at times! Joanne tried Connie on all sorts of feeds, balancers and calmers to try and lower her stress levels. Connie also has ‘flat footed TB feet’ so Joanne had also tried lots of different things to improve her hooves. Connie is fed twice a day and turned out all year round.

After attending an open evening at her local WCF store Joanne was advised to try Dengie Healthy Hooves, which was still a relatively new feed at the time.

Joanne shows Connie at local and county level with the odd bit of dressage/jumping. At Osbaldeston Trailblazers Showing, Connie was judged by a much respected Judge who liked her, but did comment on her ‘typical TB feet’! Some months later and the same judge saw Joanne and Connie again at Barton Equestrian Centre and, to which she said ‘I have judged you before haven’t I’?, Joanne replied ‘yes’. The judge then proceeded to say, ‘It was your horses feet I recognised’!! This time though the judge also said well done as she noticed a huge improvement in Connie’s hooves and told Joanne to keep up the good work!

At this stage Joanne emailed Dengie to say thank you,
“It is a huge thanks to Dengie that you advised me to try Healthy Hooves. Although Connie’s feet still aren’t perfect, and with the correct farriery; and Dengie Healthy Hooves I have now got a horse, with still not excellent feet, but a 200% improvement in her hooves! I wish I had taken a picture of Connie’s hooves in the beginning, as they were so broad and flat footed and Connie suffered bruised soles quite regularly, but you just don’t think at the time.”

Not only did Joanne notice an improvement in Connie’s hooves but also a change in her attitude as well as she was a lot calmer. Joanne adds “Also, I would like to add that she is quite a ‘stress head’, more so at shows but with the correct balanced diet at the suggested quantity of feed, I noticed a change in her attitude.

In April 2010 Connie produced a fantastic foal, with fantastic hooves which Joanne was really relieved about! This meant a diet change for Connie to Alfa-A Oil and Dengie Alfa-Beet to help maintain her condition. It wasn’t long though before the summer months arrived and Connie was maintaining condition with ease again so Joanna put her back on Healthy Hooves which she describes as ‘a fantastic all in one feed’!
