Alice's Profile

Riding has been in our family for generations. With my mum, Sarah, competing at HOYS and RIHS it was only natural that, as soon as I could walk, I'd end up in the saddle!

As I was growing up I joined the Hampshire Hunt Pony Club and it was during my pony club years that I developed a strong passion for dressage (just ask me about Dusty and Perfection Himself!). I regularly represented Hampshire Hunt Pony Club in dressage competitions.

I continued to study whilst I was competing and in 2008 I completed my A levels. It was then that I took the decision to work full time with horses and seek out my ambition to compete in dressage at the highest standard.

In recent years I have been on the national squad of British Young Riders Dressage Scheme (BYRDS), the 2009 Young Rider European Dressage Team and am now starting to compete at senior international events.

I receive weekly coaching from Erik Theilgaard and also attend monthly clinics with Charlotte Dujardin. When I am not working with one of my coaches I train the horses myself with support from my mum, Sarah. Keeping all my horses fit and training other horses from the livery yard at Headmore Farm means that I typically ride about 7-8 horses a day. This can also include backing youngsters which we have bred on at the Farm.

A typical day is a busy one but for me the decision to work with horses is a lifestyle decision and one which requires passion for what you do.
