Carly's profile

Carly Milbank is 26 years old and lives with fiance Neal Tredinnick, a farrier at their own yard in Steeple Bumpstead, Essex.

As a child Carly was riding as soon as she could walk on her mothers horse, Carly got her first pony aged 7 which was a 12hh Welsh show pony.  Success at Pony Club in Dresage, Horse Trails and showjumping followed

Nowadays Carly specialises in Show Jumping after taking a gap year between college and university to go to Italy to ride for Carlo Codecassa, International Italian rider. It was here that she got her first taste of international success on the young rider circuit.

Carly loves producing young horses for Show Jumping.  Here she tells us some more about her current string;

The Horses:

Valista (Stable name Whinny) 16.1hh 5 year old Dutch Mare by Wolfgang. I part own Valista with Steve Lamb from International Sports Horses. Valista has been on my yard for 7 months. She arrived in an over weight condition, unbroken and unhandled. Since that day she has gone from strength the strength. She has qualified Welsh Masters, BSJA Scope Festival of Show Jumping, Jayrest Championships, Discovery Regional finals and is now being aimed at 5 year old classes this summer. She is consistently jumping double clear Newcomers and always brings home the diesel money! I have to monitor her weight very carefully to ensure that I am not allowing her to become ‘porky’ again, thus stressing her legs and muscles during strenuous work.

Dino Barrella (Stable name Dino)17.1hh 5 year old Dutch Gelding by Lansing. This horse is also part owned by Sports Horses International. Dino is a huge horse with an even bigger heart. He arrived on my yard two months ago and competed in his first Newcomers last weekend. He has huge scope but does not even start to try to jump until the fences are monstrous. Dino will be held back from the bigger classes for a while in order for him to mature into his long legs. He is kind and laid back and requires a lot of energy from his feed but like Whinny can gain weight easily. His diet consists of Alfa A Original, Naked Oats and Horse and Pony cubes.

Wicarlos (Stable name Luigi) 16hh 4 year old Gelding by Rhodium. The midget of the yard but what he lacks in height he makes up for in personality! Luigi has been broken for 3 months and is proving to be exceptional in his movement and his jump. He will be aimed at 4 year old classes later this summer with the BSJA Scope Festival in mind. Luigi is on a maintenance diet of HiFi Original and Horse and Pony Cubes.

Frieda 16.1hh 5 year old mare by Lancer. Frieda has been broken for 3 months and has attended one training show. She has a laid back attitude to life and is coming along nicely. She will be aimed at BSJA novice classes this summer and maybe 5 year old classes later on in the year. Frieda’s diet consists of HiFi Original and Horse and Pony Nuts.
