Liz Taylor
New Addition to Liz Taylor's Team!
Last weekend was quite a busy one in the Taylor house! SG Enigmatika who was due to foal on the Sunday was a little restless in the stable on Friday evening, possibly because she and the other horses had decided to gallop hell for leather around the field just before they where brought in for the night, but we thought it best to keep an eye on her so Dad volunteered to sit up and watch as he was certain that she would foal - I was convinced she wasn't going to foal as it wasn't due until the Sunday - anyway we settled on the better safe than sorry route!
A sleepless night later, having watched SG Engimatika sleep soundly all night she finally got down to business at 5am on Saturday morning (3rd May) and gave birth to a big strong colt foal. Both mum and un-named lad are doing really well. He is a confident and well put together boy who I hope will follow the other horses into Endurance. It seems frightening to think that if he does his first 160km aged 10, it will be 2018 and I will be 34!!! As I write now he is just 1 week old, and has already decided that trying to eat his mum's Alfa-A is far more exciting than her milk! I am glad he is taking his part in the Dengie team seriously already!
So after an exciting Saturday my alarm went off at 3.45am on Sunday morning for us to head to Berkshire downs for a 80km ER. Unfortunately it wasn't Karaanza's day and I retired her before vet gate 1 as I wasn't happy with her. Although she passed the veterinary inspection I felt she wasn't right and took the decision to call it a day and retired her.
The horses all look great in their summer coats and are currently enjoying the hot weather (at last!). Next stop is 160km FEI*** for Falaina at Dukeries ride at the end of May!
