Full Stream Ahead

I have been full steam ahead since getting the all clear to ride again! The young horses are all enjoying being back in work and actually all feel better for having the time off!

We have been out doing lots of training with the likes of Suzie Gibson (SJ), Paul Hayler (Dressage) and the master that is Chris Bartle. It’s been great getting tips and advice from all 3 of them and the horses are coming on a treat!

Stan made his debut at British Dressage two weeks ago and won both tests with fab scores and even made it into H&H for being such a clever pony! He was out again on Saturday and made it 4 wins out of 4 starts…lets hope this form continues into the next eventing season! Stan also got thrown into XC in the deep end by going to a hunter trial a couple of weeks ago. I was expecting a nice easy first time course and was even doing the nanny and novice with a 11-year-old girl I teach. It turns out the course was rather technical with a water complex, ditches and skinny jump combinations! Luckily he was fantastic as I didn’t fancy being shown up by my pupil!

Skip has been out and about jumping and doing dressage too, again he has been on winning form and he is really starting to feel more grown up. I’m very excited about him for next season!

Callie who was very backward before I broke my hand seems to have turned a corner and is now working well on the flat and started jumping. He will be a slower horse to develop than the others, but I feel he is worth taking the time with!

Sadly Sparkle was diagnosed with arthritis in his hocks over the summer and I made the really hard decision to let him go to a fab family on loan to do U18 classes. It’s a step down for him, but he is loving life and looking brilliant for not having as much stress on his joints! Fingers crossed he will have a good season with them next year!

All the horses have been enjoying their Dengie healthy tummy over the summer and look amazing! They will be staying on it over the winter when they are in the stable more than the field as its non-heating and they love it!!
